In CODA, the girl name Ruby Rossi (Emilia Jones), a 17-year-old high school student, is the only hearing member of her Deaf family. Every morning, she helps her parents and older brother, all Deaf, with their fishing business before heading to school. Ruby possesses a remarkable talent for singing and finds encouragement from her enthusiastic music teacher, Mr. Vizzini. However, pursuing her musical ambitions means leaving behind her family who rely on her communication and facing the challenges of entering a world vastly different from her own.
