On August 21, 2024, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and his 17-year-old son Gus had a poignant moment that won everyone over during the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Speaking on his acceptance, Governor Walz was the Democratic nominee for vice president.
The camera followed Gus in the front row as he discussed the hardships his family experienced, including the demanding reproductive treatments he and his wife underwent to deliver their daughter Hope. Gus had tears flowing down his face, obviously emotional. Everyone observing his father’s declaration of love for his family would have found great resonance in “Hope.”
