In 1820, crew members (Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy) on board the New England vessel Essex face a frightening fight for endurance when a whale of mammoth size and strength assaults with force, devastating their boat and departing them unfastened in the sea. Pushed as far as possible and confronting storms, starvation, frenzy and depression, the survivors should depend on the inconceivable to remain alive. Their mind blowing story eventually moves writer Herman Melville to express “Moby-Dick.”
