Following her remarks at the Zurich Film Festival, Kate Winslet recently apologized to male film directors. She spoke on the difficulties she experienced producing her most recent picture, “Lee.” Celebrated for her role in “Titanic,” Winslet said it was challenging to find men in finance and directors supporting the women-centred film.
“We had to work pretty hard,” she said. I came across men who were just unable to grasp the movie’s premise.” The movie follows a woman who has to overcome several difficulties and does not always seem perfect.
Another investor asked her, “Why should I like this woman?” “Well, maybe this project isn’t for you then,” Winset responded.
Winslet is committed to narratives of strong women despite all the challenges. She thinks her apology would create more opportunities for female filmmakers in the industry.
