Talented pianist Scott Simon from the Sha Na Na rock ‘n’ roll band unfortunately passed away aged 75 following a protracted struggle with sinus cancer.
Starting with Sha Na Na in 1970, Scott continued with the band for an amazing 52 years, performing until their 2022 tour stop. Known for his energetic performances, he even had a special technique of playing the piano with his feet!
Co-writing the song “Sandy, which John Travolta sang in the film Grease, was one of Scott’s most unforgettable accomplishments. Many listeners still enjoy this song, which became a smash.
Apart from their musical talents, Scott and Sha Na Na performed in Grease as “Johnny Casino and the Gamblers,” playing six songs throughout the high school dance events.
Nina Simon, Scott’s daughter, confirmed his death. He leaves behind his wife, Deborah; his daughters Nina and Morgan; his stepson Nick; his granddaughters Rocket and Naomi;
Scott Simon will always be remembered for his music and the delight he offered to so many people via his concerts.
