Loved Broadway performer Gavin Creel passed away at 48 years old. He was well-known for his performances on hit shows including “Hair” and “Hello, Dolly!” Following a battle with a rare kind of cancer, Gavin died at his New York residence.
Gavin’s Broadway career was outstanding. He was nominated for his parts in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Hair” in addition to winning a Tony Award for his performance in “Hello, Dolly!” For which he received a Laurence Olivier Award in 2014, he also starred in other shows including “Waitress,” “Into the Woods,” and “The Book of Mormon.”
His passing greatly saddens the theatre community. Alex Temple Ward, his boyfriend, verified the news. Among Gavin’s friends and coworkers, including Josh Gad and Lin-Manuel Miranda, many have expressed their loss and happy memories of him.
